Mirror Lake State Park is located in the Wisconsin Dells (#waterparkcapitaloftheworld) area off of Interstate 90/94. When heading to Mirror Lake State Park, I always look forward to the bridge on the Interstate that crosses Mirror Lake. As you drive by, you get a glimpse down the sandstone bluffs to the serene lake far below.
The Park includes campsites, a beach, hiking trails, summer rentals and spectacular sandstone bluffs the the Wisconsin Dells are known for. A vehicle admission sticker is required and you can acquire one at the Park Office.
This beautiful calm lake is perfect for kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. Pontoon boats can be rented during the summer.
The boat launch makes it easy for you to put in your watercraft. Parking for your car and trailer is also available.
A selfie stand is posted in the park so you can get a picture with Mirror Lake in the background. Share your selfie on Instagram #ScenicWisconsin
Our visit was in mid-March and winter was still in the air and icicles were still hanging from the sandstone!
The park is fun to explore during all seasons but having not been here in the Spring before, it's now our new favorite time of the year to visit, because of the beauty and the fact there was hardly anyone around.
Beautiful sandstone bluffs along Mirror Lake.
Pet peeve here.... your name does not need to be scratched into the sandstone bluff. Nothing historic here, just modern day vandalism. Sorry folks no one cares that you were here. Take a picture and leave only footprints. #respectourparks
The beautiful sandstone bluffs and geography of the Dells is due to a glacier missing the Dells only by a few miles. When the glacier melted, the waters carved out the canyons, gorges, bluffs and remarkable formations you see in the area.
The Echo Rock trail leads to an overlook over the lake and beautiful Echo Rock.
The sandy hiking trail completely circles Echo Rock. You can also climb on top of the rock and do a little bouldering. #threepointsofcontact
Ishnala Supper Club is across the water from Echo Rock and is a nice place for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant is usually packed.
This foot bridge allows you to access the Ishnala trails on the other side of the the bay.
Fern Dell Gorge State Natural Area is less than a mile up the road from Mirror Lake. When in the area make it a stop as well. This small Natural Area features a mile long gorge that is a tributary of Mirror Lake.
A short hike leads to Pulpit Rock that overlooks the water.
This photo shows the beautiful gorge leading into Mirror Lake. The area is appropriately named for the wide variety of ferns that line the hiking trail.
Final stop of the day was Kilbourn Dam in Wisconsin Dells. Kilbourn dam generates electricity for southcentral Wisconsin and is over a hundred years old. The dam separates the upper Dells and the lower Dells of the Wisconsin River. Before heading onto Main Street in The Dells, make a stop and enjoy the calming sound of a massive amount of water making its way south!
